"Just over two months on and so far, this is the best decision I ever made." When Kim Boylett began her CILEx journey and as she progressed through her career, she had always wanted to run her own firm, but the time was never right. Then in 2020, when the covid-19 pandemic hit, she took the opportunity to realise her dream.
Not knowing where to start, she contacted CILEx Regulation and found the support she needed to take her first important steps towards gaining practising rights. The entity application process helped Kim to consider all aspects of running her own Law firm, including practical business requirements such as; financial management, client care, marketing and creating robust policies and procedures, so that she was ready for when she opened her doors.

To mark National Apprenticeship Week, Evie shares her experiences and reflections on being the first Chartered Legal Executive to qualify through the new apprenticeship standard route. The Chartered Legal Executive Apprenticeship Standard was approved for delivery in 2016. The new standards were written by employer-led groups and focus on developing the skills, knowledge and behaviours required for a specific occupation, rather than achieving qualifications.
