Even the best lawyers can miss the signs of money laundering if they don’t look closely enough. The Home Office's "Flag It Up" campaign, supported by CILEx Regulation, aims to ensure those in the legal, property and accountancy sectors are more aware of and prepared for suspicious activity.
Women in the Law UK has marked this year’s centenary of the lifting of the bar on female participation in the legal profession by introducing a Charter for firms that demonstrate real commitment to diversity and wellbeing. The Charter was officially launched at the Women in the Law UK Annual Dinner on 14 March, which was attended by over 300 senior legal sector influencers from around the country.

The Legal Ombudsman (LeO) recognises that the situation of every complaint is different and a “one size fits all” approach cannot be used. The LeO’s guidance provides a clear explanation of how it decides what a reasonable outcome to a complaint should be.

But the new site aims to be cleaner, fresher, more user-friendly and more accessible.

The CILEx Regulation Transparency Rules came into force on 14 January 2019. Marketing specialist Rachel Tombs says law firms should use the opportunity to shift the emphasis from "price" to "value", going beyond the minimum requirements to distinguish their firm’s offering on their website and differentiate themselves from the competition.
All applicants for CILEx membership and existing members are required to declare any adverse conduct which may impact on their membership or registration; this is referred to as “prior conduct” and includes certain financial matters.
